Happy to meet you here!

I am Sarah, the woman behind the words. When I read the works of someone new to me, I always wonder what makes them tick. Which perspectives and life influences affect their work, at least so far as can be pinpointed? So here are a few scraps of my wandering life I gathered together to help you to understand a little of what kind of woman I am.

I am married to a wonderful man who has loved me and supported my work for over thirty years. We were married practically as children, under a hot July sun in Texas, so that we could spend a life together in far-flung places, first with the Navy, later with the State Department. We have toiled through child-bearing, ending up with three living children who globetrot with us. You will find the threads of the little lives we were blessed with but lost through some of my stories.

I can honestly say the most robust work I have accomplished is rearing my children. They were all born at home, worn in slings, breastfed and homeschooled. Our days together have been filled with wonder at the sky, birds, bugs and art. Our feet have roamed through many parks and zoos and danced silly dances around the living room. Our voices have sung loudly to oldies in the car, folk songs on long walks, and around the piano for hymn-sings as a family. Our habits of housekeeping activities like laundry, dishes, vacuuming and lawn care have been haphazard mostly, and occasionally successful. My oldest two children are in college now, the oldest about to graduate. But our youngest is still at home, and I’m happy to get a few years with her, just she and I.

I really love fiber arts— sewing, especially, though I appreciate those who use fiber in their weaving, knitting, crocheting and quilting. I have noticed that in many ways my faith-walk as a Christian has been like a fabric weave. Sometimes threads are pulled out, sometimes threads added by an unseen hand. But always, always, there comes into view, maybe not when seen up close, but certainly when seen from a step or two back, a picture of foundational faith. My faith in Christ undergirds all of who I am, as woman, wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend.

Thanks for reading my stories. I always aim to make the minutes you spend listening to my yarns worth your thought and attention. Nothing worse than feeling like our precious little moments of time have been wasted by an author.

I am glad you came for a visit! Let’s share in a few adventures, shall we?
