Cardboard Houses

November 9, 2011 by Sarah

The other day when I was on my trek to the farmer’s market I stopped at a nice little grocery shop to pick up some fresh bread. On my way out, I caught sight of a russian magazine called Mamas & Papas. It was only about 2 bucks so I grabbed it and figured maybe it will help me with my russian, and if not, it would likely have pictures of babies in it. And if so, that would be enough entertainment for Helen to allow me to unpack a box or two.

Today in my weary state, I opened up the plastic and flipped through the pages. And what did I spy there but an adorable little cardboard house! It looked like something from Holland, with a steep roof and a windmill on the front.  It was painted really cute, with bricks and flowers on the bottom and the hint of a green tiled roof.

And then I remembered a cute cardboard house I had seen at a neighbor’s house that looked like something from a fairy tale. And then I realized: hey, I could keep some of these boxes and make a cute house, or maybe a whole neighborhood of them. That’s when I stopped myself. Obviously I’ve been drinking too much coffee.

Since I can’t get a link to the cardboard house in the magazine (I tried, but I don’t read Russian well enough to navigate a website) and I can’t seem to find the camera right now to take a picture for you, I figured maybe I’d check online and see if there are any fun cardboard houses out there.

Turns out, there are none as cute as the two I referred to. Seriously, on the big ole internet I cannot find anything that even comes close. Ugh! Now I will probably have to get busy making cardboard houses and post up some photos for you…

… unless, any of you out there want to make a cute cardboard house and send me the pic?

Oh, come on, you know you want to!
